  GERMAN CROSS

The German Cross
Breast Star

The German Cross in Gold was awarded to German soldiers who had already earned the Iron Cross First Class and had performed additional acts of bravery between seven and 12 more times. The award was meant to bridge the gap between the Iron Cross First Class and the Knight's Cross, when it was established by Hitler on Sept. 28, 1941. The name of the award refers to the large swastika which is featured inside a gold wreath, all within an eight-point silver starburst. Unlike most other German awards, this decoration was worn on the lower right breast pocket.

Our high quality reproduction is of multi-piece construction, with the enameled, round central section riveted to the star, which is made of nickel, and measures two-and-a-half inches in diameter. The reverse is fitted with a heavy-duty pin-back with a safety catch.
